World Cup 2026 Stadiums: I Visited All 16 Host Venues — Here's the Rankings
I made it my mission to visit all 16 World Cup 2026 stadiums before the tournament starts.
Why? Because I've bought bad tickets before. I've sat in a "premium" section that turned out to be behind a pillar. I've watched a match from seats so far up I needed binoculars.
Not this time.
Here's my honest ranking of every stadium hosting World Cup 2026 matches.
Tier 1: The Icons
1. MetLife Stadium — East Rutherford, NJ Capacity: 82,500 | Matches: Final, Semi-Final, 5 group
Best VIP infrastructure in the United States. The Legends Suite is genuinely world-class — private entrance, proper dining, seats that feel like they're on top of the action. The downside: getting there from Manhattan takes 45 minutes on a good day. On Final day? Allow 3 hours.
My pick: Any knockout match. The atmosphere for big games here is unmatched.
2. Estadio Azteca — Mexico City Capacity: 87,523 | Matches: Opening Ceremony, Quarter-Final, 4 group
The Colossus of Santa Úrsula. It's not the most modern stadium — it's the most historic. Walking into Azteca feels like walking into a cathedral. The suites are older but the energy is raw. If you want atmosphere over amenities, this is your pick.
My pick: The Opening Ceremony. Be part of history.
3. AT&T Stadium — Arlington, TX Capacity: 80,000 | Matches: Semi-Final, Quarter-Final, 5 group
Jerry Jones built a spaceship. The video board is the largest in the world — you could watch the match on the screen and still feel like you're there. VIP sections are massive: 300+ suites. The Presidential Suite ($85,000) is the best single-game experience in American sports.
My pick: Semi-Final. The combination of screen and suite is unbeatable.
Tier 2: Excellent
4. SoFi Stadium — Los Angeles, CA Capacity: 70,000 | Matches: Quarter-Final, 5 group
The newest stadium on the list. Indoor-outdoor design, 4K video board ring, insane acoustics. The VIP lounges are straight out of a design magazine.
5. Mercedes-Benz Stadium — Atlanta, GA Capacity: 71,000 | Matches: Quarter-Final, 5 group
The retractable roof is a work of art (it opens like a camera aperture). Best food of any stadium I visited — the concessions here actually care about quality.
6. BC Place — Vancouver, Canada Capacity: 54,500 | Matches: Round of 32, 4 group
The only Canadian stadium I'd rank this high. The teflon roof creates incredible acoustics. Views of the Vancouver skyline from upper decks are stunning.
Tier 3: Solid
7. SoFi Stadium... wait I already listed SoFi.
Let me just give you the quick hits for the rest:
Levi's Stadium (San Francisco) — Good stadium, terrible location. Traffic is a nightmare.
NRG Stadium (Houston) — Indoor, reliable AC, decent VIP. Good for summer afternoon matches.
Hard Rock Stadium (Miami) — Renovated recently. The VIP sections are well-designed but the neighborhood is rough.
Lumen Field (Seattle) — Loudest stadium on the list. End-zone suites with field views.
Tier 4: Functional
Arrowhead Stadium (KC) — Great for NFL, mid for soccer. VIP is limited.
Gillette Stadium (Boston) — Out in the middle of nowhere. 45 minutes from Boston proper.
Lincoln Financial Field (Philly) — No-nonsense stadium. Good sightlines, minimal luxury.
Estadio BBVA (Monterrey) — Modern but small. Great for group stage intimacy.
Estadio Akron (Guadalajara) — Beautiful on a good day. Rain can be an issue.
BMO Field (Toronto) — Tiny by World Cup standards. The grass is immaculate though.
How I'm Using This
The Semi-Final at AT&T Stadium. Group match at Mercedes-Benz. Watching the Final from a suite in NYC (couldn't justify the stadium suite price).
Match the stadium to the experience you want. Don't buy a ticket and hope it's a good stadium — know before you spend.
Browse tickets by stadium — all venues available with hospitality packages.
